Useful links for SRTC scholars

UBC and hospital safety requirements: Information on University and Hospital safety course requirements and certification. All SRTC scholars matriculated at the University of British Columbia must complete these courses.

UBC health safety and environment office: Sign up for safety courses on this web site.

Experimental Medicine Program: UBC Department of Medicine and the Faculty of Medicine originated and developed the Experimental Medicine Program for graduate studies in medical research. Many SRTC scholars conduct their research through the Experimental Medicine Program and must meet its requirements.

UBC Dermatology publications and reports: Provides a summary of all publications involving authors who are members of UBC Dermatology Department.

UBC Dermatology Department Research Day: Every year the Department of Dermatology and Skin Science holds a research day to present the latest research in the Department. All SRTC scholars are expected to attend, present their research, and network with colleagues.

Faculty of Graduate Studies: The Faculty of Graduate Studies oversees all aspects of graduate education at UBC. They provide administrative services for graduate students and programs, and ensure that academic training is of the highest standard in research and other scholarly activities. Many SRTC scholars are UBC Faculty of Graduate Studies members.

Michael Smith Foundation for Health Research (MSFHR): The Michael Smith Foundation for Health Research supports and promotes health research in British Columbia. It has several programs and competitions including support for graduate research students.

Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR): The Canadian Institutes of Health Research is a key grant awarding body in health research across Canada. It provides funding in many categories including competitions for student scholarships.

Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC): The Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada supports university students in their advanced studies, promotes and supports discovery research, and fosters innovation by encouraging Canadian companies to participate and invest in post secondary research projects.

Common CV: The Common CV system is a web-based tool that allows researchers to manage their CV data in a single repository. Many grant awarding agencies in Canada expect grant applications to be accompanied by applicant CVs constructed using this web site.

Other grant awarding groups: Vancouver Coastal Health Research Institute maintains a comprehensive list of links to many specialist grant awarding bodies in Canada and beyond.

Community of Science grant awarding institutions and organizations: The community of Science maintains an extensive list of grant awarding groups across all research disciplines.

 

UBC Dermatology Department Links

UBC Department of Dermatology and Skin Science: In the Faculty of Medicine at the University of British Columbia is Canada's first and only academic dermatology department: The Department of Dermatology and Skin Science.

Skin Care Centre: The Skin Care Centre is the patient care centre at UBC Dermatology. a dynamic, caring, and modern facility that offers Canadian patients exemplary dermatology care, surgery, clinics, and research.

DermWeb: DermWeb is a premier destination for dermatology links and resources on the Web. There are several areas of interest for practicing dermatologists, for dermatology students, and for the general public. DermWeb is maintained by the Department of Dermatology and Skin Science.

Hair Research Laboratory: The hair research laboratory studies hair biology and hair loss diseases. It also researches skin appendage related cancers including basal cell carcinomas.

UBC Faculty of Medicine: Web site for clinical research and education at the University of British Columbia.

UBC Department of Medicine: The Department of Medicine provides excellence in research, teaching and clinical services related to the nature, cause and prevention of adult diseases. It is the largest Department in the Faculty of Medicine and consisting of 17 different divisions.

Experimental Medicine: UBC Department of Medicine has an active research program with investigators conducting research in all experimental aspects of medicine. The Department and Faculty originated and developed the Experimental Medicine Program for graduate studies in Experimental Medicine.

Vancouver Coastal Health Research Institute: VCHRI is one of four Vancouver hospital-based research institutes affiliated with UBC (Providence Health Care Research Institute (PHCRI) at St. Paul’s Hospital, The Child and Family Research Institute (CFRI) at BC Children’s Hospital, and the BC Cancer Research Centre at the BC Cancer Agency). VCHRI supports and promotes research across Vancouver Coastal Health.
